Inauguration of the APA Headquarters: A New Chapter for African Prosecutorial Cooperation
The official inauguration of the Africa Prosecutors Association (APA) Headquarters in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco, marked a defining institutional milestone in strengthening prosecutorial cooperation across the continent. The ceremony symbolised APA’s renewed commitment to building a more visible, coordinated and sustainable continental platform for justice.
The inauguration was officially graced by Hon. Renson M. Ingonga, CBS, OGW, Director of Public Prosecutions of Kenya and President of APA, whose leadership continues to guide the Association towards greater institutional cohesion, continental solidarity and effective prosecutorial cooperation. The ceremony was also attended by H.E. Ambassador Jessica Muthoni Gakinya, whose presence underscored the significance of this milestone and reflected Kenya’s continued support for APA’s institutional growth.
As aptly stated in the keynote address, “justice in Africa cannot be fragmented. Our challenges are shared, and so must be our solutions.” This powerful reflection captures the spirit of the inauguration and APA’s shared responsibility to respond to emerging and transnational crime.
The Headquarters will be under the care of Hon. Hicham Balaoui, the King’s Prosecutor General of the Kingdom of Morocco and Secretary General of APA, whose stewardship will be central in ensuring that the office becomes a living centre of cooperation, coordination and service to Member States.
